The Social Work Department of the Allama Iqbal Community Center (AICC) is a testament to the organization’s unwavering commitment to supporting underprivileged families and communities in both New York and Pakistan.
With a long and prominent history of social work, the department has played a vital role in providing assistance and support to those in need, particularly in the aftermath of natural disasters and other crises.
In New York, the AICC team was at the forefront of the relief efforts after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, providing essential services such as food distribution, healthcare, and shelter to affected families. The organization also played a crucial role in distributing Ramzan packages during the COVID-19 pandemic in New York and New Jersey, ensuring that those in need had access to essential supplies during challenging times.
Beyond its efforts in the United States, the Social Work Department of AICC has also been instrumental in providing relief and aid to those affected by natural disasters in Pakistan. The organization worked tirelessly to support those affected by the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir and provided assistance to flood victims in the country. AICC works in partnership with Pakistani businessmen, doctors, and other members of the community to provide food distribution, scholarships, and health services to underprivileged families in Pakistan.
In addition to their efforts in Pakistan, AICC also sent a container filled with food, clothes, and other necessary items from New York to Pakistan after the 2022 floods. The relief package was distributed among the affected areas of South and North Punjab, including Rajanpur, Dera Dismal Khan, and Dg Khan. This is just one example of the department’s continued commitment to providing aid and support to those in need, both in the United States and Pakistan.
AICC’s commitment to social work extends beyond disaster relief efforts. The organization has organized numerous fundraising events to support the people of Pakistan and continues to provide essential services such as food distribution, scholarships, health services, and support for homeless people and underprivileged families in both New York and Pakistan.
Overall, the Social Work Department of AICC is an essential component of the organization’s mission to create a more equitable and just world. Through its tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to social justice, the department has positively impacted the lives of countless individuals and families, both in the United States and Pakistan.
